School Photos
The date for our photos has changed from this Friday to Wednesday the 1st July. I'm hoping it looks better than this one.
Assembly Term 2, Week 8
We hosted the Year 3 assembly in Room 18 today and ended it with a team Jump Jam session since it was pleasant and warm. There were some great movers out there and it has been great to see your technique improving now that we are doing Jump Jam for one of the fitness rotations.
Congratulations to Erin, Lachie and Charles who were awarded certificates this week. You make us proud.

Exploring Circuits
This afternoon we were investigating circuits. We were using batteries for an energy source, crocodile clips, light bulbs, and buzzers. When our circuits didn't work, we had to locate where the gap in the circuit was that was allowing the energy to escape.

Dragon Smoke!
Winter is certainly upon us. On Friday morning it was a -5 degrees and the ground was covered in frost. Our poem for the day, Dragon Smoke, inspired us to get out and make our own dragon - complete with smoke.
Room 18 Heroes
Who can be a hero? Henry, Jonty and Sam proved that anyone can be a hero when they heard a smoke alarm going off in a neighbour's home. The owner was asleep and the house was full of smoke before the boys managed to wake them with the help of another neighbour.
You showed initiative in locating the problem and getting help. You definitely showed manaakitanga towards others in your community. Well done boys, we are very proud of you.

Dav Pilkey Trip - Tra La Laaa!
On Friday afternoon a group of very excited children got to meet the author of Captain Underpants - Dav (Dave) Pilkey. He talked about how he struggled at school due to learning and behaviour problems, but also how despite difficulties such as ADHD and Dyslexia, he worked with his strengths at drawing and story telling to become a popular author. His books have started many children off on a reading journey with their quirky illustrations, memorable characters, crazy story lines and of course; the flip-o-rama.
At the end of the event, we got to meet Dav and he signed books for the children. Thank you to the parents who transported the children to and from the session.
