Thank you to Room 16 who hosted the Year 3 assembly on Wednesday. We enjoyed listening to your "Who Am I?" writing and trying to guess who it was. Your tagxedo art was inspiring and we are looking forward to making our own this week. Congratulations to Emily, Cooper & Charlotte who received certificates this week, and to Room 17 who won the Heather Trophy for the tidiest cloakroom.

Aquagym Swimming Sessions - This Week!
Just a reminder that Room 18 will be having swimming sessions at Aquagym this week. Please make sure that you are at school on time as the bus leaves at 9:30, and that you have the following gear at school every day;
- togs
- dry towel
- goggles (if you need them)
- LARGE STRONG waterproof bag that will fit all your clothes - including shoes. (Please note that plastic supermarket bags are not strong enough so they tear easily so things get lost/wet and they are not large enough to fit everything in that you take off.)

Peter Pan
Linking to our Term 1 focus of Learning Adventurers, the Year 3 Team are encouraging you to go and see the Summer Theatre Production of Peter Pan. The lead role of Peter Pan is played by Ms Ashby's nephew, Ben Ashby, who used to go to St Albans school. The production is free and you can find more details about the performance times by clicking on the photo below.
Later in the term, Ben has offered to come and talk to us. Naturally this will have more relevance if you have seen the show. I hope you can make it.

Term 1 Week 1
Kia ora koutou
We kicked off the term with a pōwhiri to welcome the new staff and students to St Albans. Later in the day we met up with our buddy class, Room 24, and worked together to complete a piece for "The Art of Community" display.

We are looking forward to our next get-together with our buddies.
On Wednesday we went swimming in the school pool. I was very proud of the way everyone managed themselves and their gear - 10 minutes and everyone was dressed and ready to go! Awesome work! Next week we are starting work on our Butterfly Garden. If anyone has any spare swan plants at home, we would love to add them to our garden.

Welcome back
The holidays have gone very fast and I hope you are all rested and recharged for the year ahead. The Year 3 Teachers have been busy
getting the classrooms ready for Monday and are looking forward to hearing all about your holiday adventures.
Once you have hung your bag up, pop your books and things onto your desk - we will sort these out after morning tea. After the roll, if the weather is fine, we will be attending the pōwhiri for new students and staff. Parents and caregivers are welcome to stay and join in the welcome.

It is a big help if you can have all your
stationery ready and named for the first day of term. Below is a list of what your books will be used for. (The full stationery list can be downloaded from the school website.) Please write the subject on the front cover of each book underneath your name and room number. We will be using
our own pens, glue sticks etc so please name everything. It is very difficult to find missing items when they are not named. Book coverings like duraseal
are handy to help make books more identifiable and harder wearing, but this is
not essential.
