Diabolical Dragons

Dragons are found in many of the myths and legends we are looking at this term. This morning we listened to a song called Custard the Dragon. This was a story written by Ogden Nash nearly one hundred years ago and has been set to music. Everyone has a copy of the words in their poetry book., or you can read the story, and the sequel, by clicking on this link. http://glenavalon.com/custard.html

Click on the picture of the dragon below to listen to the story turned into a song.

Energy Projects

This afternoon, Aoife and Cooper presented their model of a hydroelectric power station. We learnt about how the water travels down the penstocks to turn turbines which generate the electricity. This then travels through wires on pylons and power lines until it reaches our homes.
Great work!

Book Character Parade

What a great variety of book characters we had in our class on Monday, from FlyGuy to Gangsta Granny, Fantastic Mr Fox to a Cat in a box. Well done everyone (and your families) for putting in such a great effort. Special congratulations to Cooper (Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon) and Finn (Tintin) who were received a prize for the best costumes - a very difficult choice amongst such great characters.

Worlds Apart Performance

As part of book week we went to a performance called Worlds Apart this morning.

When we discussed it afterwards the children made these comments.
Aoife thought the message was inspiring. Kacey said it was funny. Ollie mentioned that it was cool the way they had two different times in the one story. Henry T  and Cooper thought the actors were good and showed a lot of passion. Henry C liked the magical box and the way the actors moved around the stage. Sam enjoyed the way the box let them see back into the past and also into the future. Jonty and Aoife particularly liked the singing. Lachlan liked seeing what they did in the olden days. Reza was impressed with the way the actors went behind the screen and cam out as different characters. Angel liked the way they had three different books in the story. Ollie thought the characters were great. Charles loved it when they first saw each other and got a big surprise. Millie loved having the opportunity to get up and dance like a bird and Asher was in his element doing some great dancing.
