New Zealand Native Animals

We have been learning about the unique wildlife Aotearoa, New Zealand. There are some excellent websites, books and magazines that can help you extend your learning at home too. Click on the image below to find out some more about the amazing animals we need to protect.

We are working in collaborative groups to present information about six native animals found in Te Wai Pounamu - the South Island of New Zealand. Each person in the group has a focus area;
  • Classification, Appearance (what is looks like)
  • Habitat (where it lives)
  • Diet (what it eats)
  • Behaviour (what it does)

Once we have our information, each group will put together their information in a poster. We have been looking in books, newspapers and online. If you have other information at home, bring it in to share with your group. Below are some websites to help you with your research.
